Coaching for Teens

One thing that I have learned from 15 years of teaching teenagers is that being a teenager can be tough.

The pressure they are now under in schools to achieve academic success is at an all-time high. In addition to this, they are bombarded with images on social media which encourage them to compare and despair.

Sadly, many teenagers lose sight of the fact that the most fabulous asset they have is their own uniqueness and instead of celebrating this, they often spend all their time striving to meet others’ expectations. This often leads to:

  • Anxiety/depression
  • Stress-related illness such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, eating disorders, self-harm or OCD
  • Phobias
  • Low self-esteem
  • Lack of direction/motivation
  • Friendship/Family issues
  • Exam stress

Many of these negative and destructive behaviours that begin in the formative teenage years are still being carried around by many adults, causing them continued difficulties in later life.

What if you could nip these patterns in the bud now?

Imagine if your teenager could be given the tools to overcome these barriers, leaving their path clear to become the best version of themselves that they can possibly be.

I use the principles of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Coaching and Hypnotherapy to help teenagers to challenge the limiting beliefs they hold in a safe and non-judgemental environment, enabling them to appreciate their own unique fabulousness and feel re-energised to live the life they really want. 

I specialise in working with quiet, shy teenage girls who are “lost” or “overwhelmed” in a classroom environment. I can help them to find their voice, recognise their unique brilliance and reach their full potential. Read more about why this is a topic close to my heart here

My aim is to provide your teenager with the tools they need to feel recharged and re-energised in as few sessions as possible, ideally 3 or 4.  

How does it work?

Firstly, I will organise a complimentary 30 minute phone call with you, the parent. This gives you an opportunity to ask any questions and provide me with any background information you wish to tell me. I will ensure that you understand what can be expected from the sessions and the best ways in which you can support your teen  afterwards. 

During the first session, I will ask your son/daughter a series of questions to ascertain what it is they are wanting to change. I try not to dwell on this part for too long as sometimes dragging up past events can simply embed the negative neurology. We will quickly move on to discussing what they want instead. This can be a very powerful part of the session, as often people have become so focused on what they don’t want that they have not even thought of what they do want! 

Once we have established what your teen really wants, we can begin working towards achieving this and I will use a range of NLP, coaching and hypnotherapy techniques to help your son or daughter achieve this.

For some, one or two sessions are enough for people to change their unhelpful thinking patterns. For others, it can take a little longer.

However, coaching is not the same as therapy and is designed to be short-term intervention. It is often useful to have a few weeks between sessions to enable your teen to practise their new skills

What if my child is not ready to talk to you? 

Sometimes teens are too shy to talk to a stranger. That’s ok. They need to feel comfortable for it to work.
